♪ How do we help children
to become bilingual? ♪

Some of our carers only use English and some carers only use Japanese. This is to help the children to be able to communicate in both English and Japanese comfortably.

♪ What are the common teaching styles in Japan and England? ♪

In Japan, lots of nurseries use the teaching style where the carer creates a plan for the whole class according to the children's age and the season. This means all children will participate in the same activities. As most of the activities are Adult-Led Activities (the carers choose the theme or topic and implement the activities), the children are able to develop the ability to listen to the teachers and follow their instructions. On the other hand, in England, the carers create plans for each individual child, based on their interests because the idea is that enhancing a child's individual character is very important in their development. The belief is that when the children want to learn or are interested in something, they can absorb an extraordinary amount of information and can develop their abilities rapidly. Therefore, there is plenty of time for Child-Initiated Activities (the children choose the activities of their own will and the carers facilitate them with their learning through these activities). As they choose their own activities and enjoy the activities, they develop their initiative and ability to be decisive. In our nursery, we are implementing a new teaching style which balances the strongest points of both teaching styles.

♪ Teaching with music ♪

There are probably lots of people who have felt or experienced times where it is easy to memorise musical lyrics but very difficult to memorise long sentences. Through music, people can memorise more information easier and the music itself makes everyday life even more enjoyable. In our nursery, we use music throughout the day in order to make the children's day brighter and more valuable.

♪ Homely atmosphere ♪

When the surrounding atmosphere is tense, it will cause more fatigue, especially for young children. In our nursery, we create a homely and calm atmosphere so that the children can enjoy their activities in a relaxed atmosphere that fosters learning and happiness.
